FAQ

Questions thinking people ask.

Every answer is here, in full, in the page. No clicks. If your question isn’t below, write to us.

Is this religious?

No. Jyotish is a Sanskrit framework that predates and runs parallel to religion. We teach it as a system, not a faith. You don't need to believe anything to learn it.

Do you sell gemstones, pujas, or remedies?

Never. We don't recommend, prescribe, or sell anything outside of education. If anyone in Jyotish suggests a $10,000 stone to fix your Saturn, leave the room.

Will you predict my future?

No. We teach you to read your own chart and understand the windows of time you're in. The agency stays with you. A good Jyotishi gives you a map, not a verdict.

Is Jyotish scientifically valid?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Jyotish is a pattern-recognition framework with a 2,000-year written tradition — not a falsifiable hypothesis. Treat it as a structured way of thinking about time and tendency, the way a literary critic uses Aristotle's poetics. Anyone selling it as 'science' is selling you something else.

Do I need to know my birth time?

Not for the JQ Assessment. For the course, an accurate birth time helps a lot — within five minutes is ideal. We'll show you techniques to estimate one if you don't have it.

What happens to my birth data?

We store it encrypted, never sell it, never share it, and you can delete it any time by emailing hello@jyotishq.com. Full details on our privacy page.

Is Vedic astrology the same as Western?

No. Different zodiac (sidereal vs. tropical), different houses, different timing system, different philosophical roots. Your Vedic chart will likely move your sun and moon signs by one position. We'll explain the differences clearly.

What's a JQ score actually measuring?

Your working familiarity with the core mechanics of Jyotish — chart structure, planets, timing, and interpretation. It's a baseline, not a verdict. Most people score Curious or Aware; that's the whole point of starting.

What's the founder's background?

We're publishing as JYOTISHQ rather than around a single name. The reason is on the About page — short version: the work should stand on its own without a personality cult around it.

Who's teaching the course?

A small team of practitioners and writers who've been studying and teaching Jyotish for over a decade combined. The first cohort is taught live; you'll meet the instructors before you pay.

Do you do private readings?

Not right now, possibly not ever. The course is the product. A 1:1 reading market quickly becomes the gemstone market — we're not interested in being the next gentle version of that.

Will sessions be recorded if I miss one?

Yes. Every live session is recorded and posted within 48 hours, along with the week's workbook. You can take the course asynchronously, though the live cohort is where the conversation happens.

How much will the course cost?

We'll announce pricing when enrollment opens. Waitlist members get a held founders' price.

What if I'm new to all of this?

Good. Curious is the most honest starting point. The course is designed to take you from zero to reading a chart confidently in six weeks.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — full refund within the first week of the cohort, no questions asked.
